We don’t do a ton of news and current events with him, unless it’s pertinent to him. As we drove to school this morning, I shared a little about yesterday’s events in Uvalde and let him know there may be some drills or different protocols in place.

I reminded him that in the event of a lockdown drill, his @dexcom receiver needed to be turned off and his phone needed to be hooked to headphones to avoid any noises from either device while allowing monitoring to still take place.

Pumping families, they make some noises as well. We don’t have a plan for those since we are MDI, but you likely need one. These instructions are written into our 504 and his teachers are aware.

I will never be sad about the fact that I was close by for so many years when this “baby” was a baby. I was down south during my undergrad when he was born. I left chemistry to go to the hospital and have been smitten ever since. 

Time and distance have stood in the way of so many things, but never my love and desire to be there.
