Small Town Kids

My high school reunion is Saturday. Ten whole years. It seems like yesterday. I can remember so much about high school. I remember the songs that were on the radio; I remember the fight I had with one of my best friends hours before we sat next to each other on that football field for graduation; I remember how much fun we had at Project Graduation, prom, weekend games and parties, all of it. For all that I remember, though, it seems like there is some I have forgotten. It would be fun to catch up.

Five Year Reunion

Our calendar is full, though, so we won’t be going. The thing is, I still talk to tons of people I went to high school with. That’s the how it goes with small towns: you never quite get rid of your lifelong friends. I have friendships that are well over 25 years old and still going strong (I’m dating myself pretty big time here).

Girls

Many of my best friends are actually my best friends from from high school, which are actually my best friends from junior high, elementary school, and even Happy House (yes, that’s where Baby Gray goes now). Small town kids just seem to stick together (have I mentioned I’m married to my high school sweetheart?).

Prom

We’ll all just have to pretend to be Romy & Michelle from afar.

  1. Wow… 10 years. But I guess that's right because (1) you and my brother graduated together, (2) Nick and I are five years apart in age and (3) my 15-year high school reunion was last weekend. Sadly, I didn't get to go either… but I agree that some of my best friends are lifelong friends from G-town!
