When I was in the classroom, I became a bit of a book hoarder. I wanted every book I could find–especially if it went to a certain thematic unit I would be teaching. Fall and all its components was no exception. The past two years, we have barely tipped the iceberg on our fall books because one would become a favorite that was read over and over.
This year, I decided to take a tip from last December and wrap all the fall books. That way each one will be new and fun each day.
I pulled out my books and started sorting.
Thirty.
Luckily, Bean had just given a birthday book to the boy that wasn’t in my stack yet. I found it and, ta-da, thirty-one!
I sorted them by theme and date, just as I would for the classroom and got ready to wrap.
I got to work, and promptly ran out of wrapping paper. Enter the brown paper shopping bags I’ve been saving all this time. Recycling at its finest (he won’t be bothered by it).
We are ready to roll through October with treats, fun, and reading! I can’t wait to share some of my favorite fall books each day.
What a wonderful idea! I love that each day the book is a surprise. How long did it take you to wrap them all? I'm the world's worst wrapper – it takes me forever so I always have my husband do it. 🙂
When I did the Christmas books, I did not remember it taking long at all. When I ran out of paper and had to start cutting bags up to wrap with, this set took FOR-EV-ER. Forever. I almost stopped and saved some for later (like when I had more wrapping paper).
