Snow Day! (You Know, Texas Style)

I am a closet weather bug. If it’s flooding, storming, raining, or doing anything out of the ordinary, I need to see it. On a regular day, it’s odd for me to check the weather at all before getting ready for my day. At a time where there is any chance of some oddity, I’m glued to a forecast (on TV, the computer, my phone, relentlessly asking my poor husband–however I can get it).
Yesterday, I started checking my phone for forecasts every thirty minutes or so (I had been watching all week for a decent ETA, but we were down to crunch time). I wanted to know exactly when the “snow” was going to hit. All day, my weather app said the first flurry would be around 7:00 pm. The snow was late. We had flurries at our house starting between 9:00 and 10:00. We went to bed around midnight (I couldn’t go to sleep with the flurries). Nothing was accumulating, so I just assumed it would be like every other Texas Snow I’d ever experienced–lots of talk for nothing.
When I first woke up this morning, I checked the backyard through the window. It didn’t look like anything, and Baby Gray was still asleep, so I went back to sleep. A little while later, I woke back up and checked my phone. Everyone had snow photos that looked a lot more white than our back yard. I got up to check the front, and we had a decent dusting. It’s the first time I can remember any snow sticking. I’ve seen photos from the snow in 1985, but I certainly don’t remember that!
Of course the best course of action when I saw the dusted front yard was to get Baby Gray and head outside for some more photos (I took some before I took him out there). He didn’t have a clue what was going on, but I got my photo op.
