Marriage Matters: First Things First

Marriage Matters- First Things First

So, you want to get married? Well, find the boy of your dreams and get with it!

I know, I know, it’s not always that easy. It would seem, though, that some tend to think the work goes into planning the wedding, rather than making the marriage. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted my wedding to be “perfect” just as much as the next bride–and to this day, I still haven’t found anything I would change about it (except I would have had a hashtag; you know, if hashtags were a thing in 2006).

It’s so easy to get caught up in the flowers, the dress, the cake, the food, the music, the soap in the bathroom: all the tiny details that make a wedding can also make you crazy.

The truth of the matter is, though, that none of that stuff makes a difference in the long run. It’s fun, and pretty, but it’s not going to make or break you. What makes a difference is the work you put in as a couple to get ready to become husband and wife. And–once you are man and wife, the work you put in from there will only make you stronger. So, seal that deal with a kiss and know that the real work comes after the party is over!

Let the wedding serve as a beginning of your life together. Let it be the starting gun to a life of togetherness, coupledom, wedded bliss.

Surround yourself with lots of your favorite people, celebrate, and ask them to be prayful for you on your new journey as a married couple. Enjoy your wedding day, and look back on it fondly as the day two became one.

I’m writing Marriage Matters as part of the #write31days challenge. Are you in? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to check your posts out!
