Guest Post: Fun at The Pearl

We’re in College Station for work part of this week, so my pal Alison is going to tell you guys a little about one of our favorite places, The Pearl Farmer’s Market. You might recall some photos of our boy playing in the lush green grass or chowing down on some homemade ginger bread, but Alison will give you a little more pertinent information. Enough from me! (Y’all know I have a hard time handing it over…)

Last weekend, I visited the very charming Pearl Farmer’s Market. I started my day at Local Coffee with a refreshing iced latte to enjoy as I begin my walk through the market. The Pearl Farmer’s Market is a producers-only market, so all items are grown and produced locally within a 150 mile radius of San Antonio, Texas. (The beautiful produce almost made me want to cook–almost.)

What I noticed most about my experience at The Pearl was how this area is thriving and there were so many groups enjoying the day strolling the market, tasting the food, and mingling with local producers. There was a band playing and children dancing to the music.

My favorite local vendor was Springfield Farms. They hand make lovely candles, skin salve, and lip balm. All ingredients are natural. I love lavender, and I bought a few of the lip balms with lavender for only $4.00 for a few friends. I can’t wait to try the Shitake Mushroom skin salve too!

I love taking pictures of families and friends! Here are a few I wanted to share:

The Pearl is perfectly located at the banks of the north end of the San Antonio Riverwalk, and the area is experiencing on-going revitalization. There are also many renowned restaurants to enjoy after The Pearl Market closes including The Granary and Cured (me again: we have been wanting to try Cured; it’s on our list). The Pearl Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday (rain or shine) from 9:00am to 1:00pm, at 312 Pearl Parkway, San Antonio, Texas 78215.
